Ufuk about SPIL: As one of a few within the board I did not do anything for SPIL before this year. I have been a semi-active member, meaning that I was regularly present at SPIL-related activities. Especially the study-trip to Morocco has been a big influence on my decision to become a lot more actively involved with SPIL. I immediately decided to apply for treasurer in the SPIL board. I would advise you, if you happen to read this, to come join us at activities! If you have any questions about our activities, do not hesitate to contact me via This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
Ufuk about Political Science: During my first year as a political science student I still had some doubts about if I really liked this study. I am glad that I did not give up and continued with the study since the second and third year courses proved to be a lot more interesting than the courses in my first year. I especially prefer the comparative analysis related courses. CAPS from the second year and Political Parties in New Democracies are currently my favorite courses.
Ufuk about Politics: I really do not care a lot about national politics. I am not a member of a political party, but I do like to observe them playing the political game during debates. I am interested in international politics though: Why is state A able to ignore international treaties and laws without any consequence? Why is state B, ignoring the same international treaties and laws, sanctioned? Why is state C a failed state, while state D, which is in many ways comparable to state C, perform well? On second thought I am not interested in national or international politics as such, but in power and power relations / comparisons.
